What audiences could expect from Paramount-Warner merger into Skydance

The completed merger brings Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery under a company called Skydance, named for the firm Paramount acquired last year.
The combined business includes the Paramount and Warner Bros. movie studios, streaming services Paramount+ and HBO Max, and television networks CBS and CNN. It also brings together CBS Sports and TNT Sports, along with the companies’ programming libraries and franchises.
The deal faced a legal challenge from California and 11 other states. A federal judge ruled in July that the merger would likely substantially reduce competition and violate antitrust laws; California later settled, and the other states accepted the compromise.
A coalition of free-speech and media advocacy groups opposed the settlement, arguing it offered residents of the states that sued little in return. A last-minute attempt to block the merger was rejected by Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan.
