Lovable CEO backs slowing AI development after warnings about AI safety: 'Warnings like this deserve to be taken seriously'

Most AI leaders have stayed quiet since Jacob Coxon accused OpenAI and Anthropic of "gambling with our lives" — except for one: Lovable CEO Anton Osika.

"Warnings like this need to be taken seriously," Osika wrote about Coxon's post.

Coxon, a 27-year-old who spent around three years as a researcher at OpenAI and Anthropic, quit the latter this week. He warned the two labs were racing toward self-improving superintelligence without acting responsibly.

It set off a fierce debate among AI researchers, policymakers, and tech observers. Several current and former Anthropic employees publicly endorsed parts of Coxon's warning.

On Thursday, Osika wrote in the post, which featured screenshots of Coxon's X thread: "Decisions that could affect everyone deserve public accountability. The people building the most powerful systems should have to demonstrate that they can keep them under control."

Evan Hubinger, who leads Anthropic's alignment team, which tests if superintelligent AI follows human values, said he personally believed there was a greater-than-10% chance that AI could kill all humans within the next decade.

OpenAI and Anthropic leaders, meanwhile, have remained silent, but have issued similar warnings in the past.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, meanwhile, warned in February 2025 that advanced AI could bring global security threats, from catastrophic misuse to the autonomous risks posed by powerful systems.

Osika ended his LinkedIn post with: "Our ambition for AI should be measured by what it makes possible for humanity."
