Jay-Z to Headline the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show

When is Jay-Z performing at the Super Bowl?

Jay-Z is scheduled to headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027. The game will be held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. ¹²

The date is the one to mark if you are planning to watch. The announcement identifies the halftime performance, but the supplied reports do not give an exact clock time for it. It is part of the Super Bowl broadcast, rather than a separate concert with a published start time. ¹²

The event is Super Bowl LXI, the 61st Super Bowl. The announcement is about the 2027 game, not the 2026 halftime show. One report’s wording refers to a 2026 show, but it also identifies the event as Super Bowl LXI and gives the 2027 date. The other reports agree on Feb. 14, 2027. ¹²³⁴

What does the announcement mean?

It confirms that Jay-Z will be the featured performer for the Super Bowl LXI halftime entertainment. A halftime show is live entertainment presented during the break in the championship game. Super Bowl halftime shows are a prominent part of the television event. ⁵

The news was announced during Monday Night Football on Oct. 26, 2026. Page Six reported that a black-and-white advertisement featuring Jay-Z revealed the news during the broadcast. ³ The announcement gives viewers a performer and a date, but not a full account of what the show will contain.

The name “Apple Music” appears in the title used by the reports. They call it the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show. ²³ The sources provided do not give further detail about the branding or how viewers will access the performance.

Why is Jay-Z’s role notable?

This will be Jay-Z’s first time as the halftime show’s featured performer, according to FOX Sports. The report says Roc Nation has worked with the NFL since 2019 on choosing artists and producing the event. It also says the league extended that arrangement in 2024. ⁴

The booking puts Jay-Z in a different position from his involvement in the show’s selection and production. The reports do not explain every part of his or Roc Nation’s responsibilities, so it would be too much to conclude that he personally made every decision about past or future performances. ⁴

The announcement follows recent performances by artists from different musical backgrounds. FOX Sports reports that Bad Bunny headlined the previous year and Kendrick Lamar the year before that. This provides context for recent shows, but does not tell us what music or guests Jay-Z will choose. ⁴

What has Jay-Z said about the performance?

Page Six reported that Jay-Z described the booking as part of a long musical journey and called it a dream come true. The report linked his comments to the 30-year span since his debut album, “Reasonable Doubt.” ³

His statement gives a personal view of the moment, but it does not reveal the show’s planned songs, guests, staging, or length. Those details should be treated as unconfirmed unless they are announced later.

What details are still unknown?

The announcement confirms the headliner, game date, and venue. The reports provided here do not say which songs Jay-Z will perform, whether guests will join him, how long the set will run, or what the staging will look like. ¹²³⁴

They also do not provide a precise halftime start time or explain all broadcast and streaming arrangements. Those details may be announced closer to the game. Readers can check official NFL or event sources for updates.
