Horror Legend John Carpenter Officially Returns With Terrifying New Release

A New Volume on the Way

Carpenter, known for Halloween, Escape from New York and The Thing, has increasingly focused on composing and other projects, while continuing to work on comics. For 11 years, he and his wife, Sandy King, have worked on the horror anthology series.

Volume 12 is available to pre-order through the Storm King Comics website for $30. Its listed release date is November 11, 2026, after Halloween. The series’ creators frame the spooky season as something that can last beyond a single night.

Twelve Tales of Horror

The new graphic novel is billed as a collection of twelve stories, bringing together macabre tales intended for a range of horror tastes. Earlier volumes have explored supernatural and psychological horror, as well as creatures including werewolves.

The cover by Tim Bradstreet shows a bloodied figure holding an axe amid wreckage and what appears to be a distant fire. The figure resembles actor Jonathan Banks, and wears a sheriff’s badge marked Haddonfield, the setting associated with the Halloween franchise. The cover offers clues, but the article cautions readers not to assume what the stories will contain.

Creators Join the Anthology

Carpenter and King return alongside artists and writers involved in earlier volumes, including Bradstreet and Frank Tieri. Tieri’s cited projects include Godzilla’s The Odyssey and Absolute Batman: Beyond Ark M.

The roster also includes creators connected with comics such as Mindbender and Event Horizon: Inferno. The collection brings together writers, artists, colorists and others, including both returning contributors and new participants.
