Dwayne Johnson Producing Disney’s Medusa Movie, but Could He Still Star?

A new Disney project
Disney is developing an original live-action movie about Medusa. Dwayne Johnson is producing it through Seven Bucks, his banner, as part of the company’s overall deal with Disney.
Michael Montemayor is writing the first draft. He also wrote the scripts for the upcoming live-action Tangled movie and Stepsisters, a live-action Cinderella spinoff.
Johnson is not set to star
Johnson is not currently attached to appear on screen, according to Deadline. He is producing alongside Seven Bucks partners Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.
The myth behind Medusa
In Greek mythology, Medusa is one of three Gorgon sisters and is known for having snakes for hair. The myth says her gaze can turn anyone who looks at her to stone. The character has appeared in projects including Clash of the Titans and Percy Jackson.
Johnson’s upcoming Jumanji return
Johnson is also set to return for the next Jumanji movie, Open World. A new trailer was released last week. Open World is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 25, Christmas Day.
