A Younger Harry Bosch Returns: Prime Video Officially Announces Brand-New Series for 2027

A new chapter for Bosch

Harry Bosch first appeared in Prime Video’s Bosch in 2015, played by Titus Welliver. The original series ran for seven seasons, followed by Bosch: Legacy, which concluded after three seasons.

The franchise also introduced Renee Ballard, played by Maggie Q, in the spin-off Ballard. Bosch is retired in that series but sometimes appears to help. Start of Watch takes a different approach, focusing on an earlier version of Harry.

Harry as a rookie officer

Set in Los Angeles in 1992, Bosch: Start of Watch follows Harry at age 26, beginning his policing career. Cameron Monaghan plays the young detective, and the series will have an entirely new cast.

The city is on edge, with racial tension and gang violence. The LAPD is described as phoning it in, while Bosch becomes involved in a prominent heist and criminal corruption that challenge his loyalty to the badge.

The code takes shape

The new series traces events that help shape Bosch into the detective viewers know from the flagship show. Its story centers on the early experiences behind his unyielding pursuit of justice. Prime Video announced that Bosch: Start of Watch premieres on January 10, 2027. The character’s defining code is: “Everybody counts, or nobody counts.”
