After Maryland Ends Its Losing Streak, Network Cuts to Analyst Mike Locksley Following Purdue Win

Maryland ends losing streak

The Terrapins held off the Boilermakers 34-29 on Saturday in West Lafayette, Indiana. The win ended Maryland’s run of 13 straight Big Ten losses.

Locksley reacts in studio

The network returned from the game to its studio show, where Mike Locksley was asked to respond to Maryland’s win. He had been fired on Oct. 21 after eight seasons as head coach and was working as a Big Ten Network analyst.

Locksley congratulated Abdul-Rahim and the team, and said he had predicted a Maryland win. He praised the defense for limiting Purdue to field goals in the first half, then described the offense scoring four touchdowns on four consecutive drives before the close finish.

DiNardo recognizes recruitment

Fellow analyst Gerry DiNardo acknowledged the awkwardness of asking the former coach to discuss the result. He pointed out that quarterback Malik Washington had been recruited by Locksley.
