Raymond Disappears From Home
Green gave birth to Raymond, her second child and first son, at Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital on November 1, 1978. Five days later, a woman named Morris, whom Green had met in the hospital, visited the family at home.
Morris had asked Green for a ride home after her discharge, saying she lived nearby. Green recalled finding the request unusual, but Morris said she wanted to check on the mother and baby. During the visit, Green went upstairs to shower, and her brother remained in the house. Green’s brother told her that Morris had carried Raymond out through the front door.
Few Clues for Investigators
Raymond was only five days old when he disappeared, and the family had no photograph of him or the woman suspected of taking him. Investigators instead used Green’s memories to create sketches of both.
Green Keeps Searching
Green will host A Night of Courage: Resilience of Hope on Saturday at Atlanta’s Saint Paul A.M.E. Church. The annual event aims to raise awareness of Raymond’s case and other unsolved missing-person cases.
Angeline Hartmann, NCMEC’s director of communications, said Raymond could be alive and unaware of his identity. Hartmann noted that the organization has worked with families whose kidnapped babies were later found alive as adults.
