Forget Night Agent: Prime Video’s 3-Part Thriller Series Is a Perfect Weekend Binge

A completed spy adventure

Alex Rider premiered in 2020 and draws on Anthony Horowitz’s 14-book series of the same name. The television adaptation does not cover every book, but follows its established framework.

The books are aimed at young adults, while the series ages up Alex. Its three seasons comprise 24 episodes, and the story concluded in 2024.

Alex investigates his uncle’s death

Otto Farrant stars as Alex, an orphaned teenager living with his uncle Ian, played by Andrew Buchan. Alex does not know that Ian works for MI6’s Department of Special Operations.

When Ian is killed on the job, Alex doubts the claim that his uncle died in a car accident. His own investigation leads him to MI6 and catches the attention of Ian’s boss, Alan Blunt, played by Stephen Dillane. Blunt recruits Alex for a special mission after he learns the truth.

A risky mission at Point Blanc

Alex is sent undercover to Point Blanc, a boarding school where students are going missing. Though reluctant, he takes the assignment seriously and follows the investigation Ian had pursued.

Blunt’s plan carries risks, but Alex shows unexpected skill as a spy. The series combines that mission with the larger story of Alex’s entry into the world of espionage.
