The reboot will receive a special preview on Saturday, January 2, 2027, following NBC’s NFL broadcast at about 8 p.m. ET. Its regular premiere is scheduled for Thursday, January 7, at 8 p.m. ET.

Episodes will be available on Peacock the day after they air. Viewers can call (760) JIM-ROCK to hear a special message from Boreanaz and can sign up for text updates.

A signature from the original

The original The Rockford Files ran from 1974 to 1980. Its lead character’s answering machine became a notable feature of the show, although Rockford rented his because such machines were not yet common in American homes. Rockford’s stylish suits, sports car and fake business cards also set him apart from earlier detectives.
