Airbnb’s AI travel agent is launching in the first half of 2027, TechCrunch reports

A travel-focused AI interface
Airbnb announced the launch timing in its Q3 shareholder letter and gave more detail about the planned feature. CEO Brian Chesky has argued that travel planning involves discovery and anticipation, which a simple chatbot may not support well.
The system is intended to shape an interface around each guest’s question. Chesky said it will draw on travel-specific elements, including maps, photos, comparisons, calendars and itineraries, and arrange them in real time.
Help beyond reservations
Airbnb says nearly 20 years of experience connecting hosts and guests will inform how the agent works. The company expects it to use insights into how people book and host on the platform.
The agent is also meant to support travelers during their trips. Airbnb says it could help with reservation changes, payment problems, refunds, rebooking and round-the-clock safety support, tasks it says an outside agent may struggle to handle independently.
More services over time
Airbnb expects the agent eventually to cover more than accommodation, including services and experiences. Those offerings have received greater attention since the company’s redesign last year. The launch announcement came as Airbnb reported third-quarter revenue of $4.87 billion, up 19% and above Wall Street estimates. The company also raised its 2026 revenue growth forecast to the high teens from the mid-teens.
