Nearly 20 Years at NBCUniversal: Jenny Groom Joins Amazon as MGM Alternative Head

New Role at Amazon MGM
Groom, now executive vice president of unscripted development at BBC Studios, is set to join Amazon MGM Studios at the end of November. She will report to Jenn Levy, the studio’s head of nonfiction.
In the role, Groom will oversee the long-running shows Survivor, The Voice and Shark Tank. Her responsibilities will also include developing new series for Prime Video and projects to license to other outlets.
Work at BBC Studios
At BBC Studios, Groom developed and executive produced Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro and Nation’s Dumbest. The programs had successful summer runs on ABC and Fox, while other projects she oversaw received pilot or development deals.
Nearly Two Decades at NBCUniversal
Groom spent almost 20 years at NBCUniversal, where she rose to executive vice president of unscripted programming. During her tenure, she greenlit The Traitors and oversaw a reality lineup that included The Voice and America’s Got Talent.
Levy said Groom’s experience across buying and selling would support MGM Alternative’s creative role and the studio’s unscripted plans. The hire also reflects a focus on developing shows and selling them to other outlets.
