EcoFlow DELTA Gen4 portable power stations keep extra power in reserve for emergencies

A reserve after zero

The new Emergency Power Mode holds back a small amount of energy for phone charging after the battery display reaches zero. Users can enable it on the unit or through the EcoFlow app. EcoFlow says the reserve can provide an iPhone 17 with nearly a full extra charge.

Both models draw 14 watts when their AC outlets are on but nothing is connected, and 3 watts in standby. EcoFlow says the DELTA 3800 Gen4 can remain fully charged for about 52 days in standby. The DELTA 3000 Gen4 has a 3,072Wh battery, and a full day idling at 14 watts uses 336Wh, about 11 percent of its capacity.

Capacity and output compared

The DELTA 3000 Gen4 stores 3,072Wh and weighs 57.3 pounds. The DELTA 3800 Gen4 stores 3,763Wh, weighs 67.5 pounds and has the same footprint as the smaller model: 16.8 by 11.4 inches. Both are rated for 3,600 watts continuous output and 7,200 watts of surge from their 120V outlets.

The larger unit accepts up to 2,000 watts of solar across two inputs and can connect to as many as two extra batteries, including the DELTA Pro 3 Smart Extra Battery, for about 12kWh total. The 3000 has one 1,000-watt solar input, and its specifications list no battery expansion port.

Fridge runtime and limits

Food inside, room temperature and door openings can affect runtime, EcoFlow notes. The mode supports one compressor-based appliance at a time, such as a refrigerator or freezer, and the company advises against running other AC loads alongside it. Neither model has been tested by the publisher, so the performance figures are EcoFlow’s.

Prices, charging and shipping

The DELTA 3000 Gen4 is listed at an early-bird $1,299, compared with a $1,699 list price. The DELTA 3800 Gen4 is $1,699, down from $2,199. EcoFlow says the offers run through December 7.

Both models are listed for preorder through EcoFlow’s website. As of November 4, the company showed late-November shipping for the 3800 and early-December shipping for the 3000. EcoFlow says wall charging takes under two hours for the 3000 and under 2.5 hours for the 3800.
