After Six Straight Losses, Eagles Reportedly Making QB Change to Start Milton Against Giants

Milton Gets Starting Role
Joe Milton III will start Sunday against the New York Giants, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on FOX. NFL Network reported Wednesday that he will take over from Tanner McKee.
Philadelphia signed Milton off the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad less than a month ago. He was promoted to McKee’s backup last week against the Washington Commanders.
A Season Of Quarterback Changes
Hurts, the Super Bowl MVP, is expected to miss the rest of the season. McKee went 0-3 as Philadelphia’s starter, losing to the Carolina Panthers, Cowboys and Commanders. Dalton, who competed with McKee for the backup role during preseason, has since been released.
Milton’s Background And Opportunity
The 26-year-old Milton is a 6-foot-5 former Tennessee quarterback known for his arm strength. The New England Patriots selected him in the sixth round in 2024, and he was later traded to Dallas in 2025.
Milton has played in five NFL games and completed 69.8% of his passes. His mobility could also aid an Eagles offense that has struggled to run the ball.
Eagles Seek To Stop Slide
Philadelphia has lost six games in a row and fallen to 2-6. Hurts’ injury is among several setbacks the team has faced this season. Sunday’s matchup gives Milton a chance to lead the offense and try to end the losing streak against the Giants.
