Brothers Season 2: Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson Reveal Plans After Finale

First season reaches its finale

The comedy follows fictional versions of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, whose close friendship is upended by the possibility that they are biological brothers. Its eight episodes began streaming in September, and the finale aired Wednesday, November 4.

The final episode, titled “On the Road Again… Again,” confirms that the characters are brothers in the show’s fictional world. It ends with them heading out to search for their biological father, who is in prison.

No season two plans yet

In an interview with TV Insider, McConaughey and Harrelson said they had not developed plans for another season. McConaughey said the team treated the first run as a complete eight-episode story, while Harrelson said they had made no plans beyond it.

As of November 4, Apple TV had not renewed the series. Eisenberg said he would be interested in making more episodes if the two actors wanted to return, while stressing that the ideas remain preliminary.

A possible road trip ahead

Eisenberg said he deliberately left the ending unresolved to allow for a continuation. He is interested in following the characters as they travel together and meet their father.

Fiction and real life differ

The show draws on the actors’ real-life friendship and their speculation that they might be half-brothers. McConaughey and Harrelson have not publicly confirmed a biological relationship. All eight episodes of the first season are available on Apple TV. The service has not announced a second season order.
