Apple Music Selfie Sing lets you take karaoke videos of yourself doing songs on camera

How Selfie Sing works

Users choose a karaoke song, tap record and sing while their phone’s camera and microphones capture the performance. Lyrics appear on the display, while the original vocals remain audible at a low level.

After recording, users can apply simple effects to their vocals and export the video to their phone’s photo library. The feature is designed to make it possible to share a singing performance.

A limited song selection

Selfie Sing currently draws from a fixed playlist of 49 songs. It includes music by Oasis, Whitney Houston, Cindy Lauper, Bonnie Tyler, Men at Work, The Goo Goo Dolls, Madonna and Marvin Gaye.

The one-minute recording limit is another constraint. The report says that length is too short for a full performance and may not cover even a verse-and-chorus section of the listed songs.

Beta availability and testing

Selfie Sing is currently available only in the iOS 27.3 developer beta. The report says the restrictions may be removed or reduced in the future, though it does not say when. The feature was tested on an iPhone Duo and worked on that device, according to the report.
