18-year-old arrested in fatal shooting of Colorado student on Halloween night

Student killed in shooting
The two men were taken to hospital after the shooting. One died early Sunday morning, according to the report. The Boulder County Coroner identified the victim as 19-year-old Luca Hanlon, a University of Colorado-Boulder student. Jack Anderson, who lived at the house, told Denver7 that Hanlon was his best friend and had been there for him.
Party preceded gunfire
Police had responded to a noise complaint about a large party earlier that evening. Residents of the property were cited for what police described as a “nuisance party.” Later, a group tried to force its way into the house, and shots were fired inside. The suspects fled after both victims were hit.
Arrest and investigation
An 18-year-old, identified as Perez, was arrested. Police said he is not a University of Colorado student and are not releasing his picture while the investigation continues. A document said Perez shot Hanlon in the neck and wounded the other victim in the leg. A university spokesperson said the school is working with authorities and asked people to respect Hanlon’s family and friends’ privacy.
