Robopocalypse TV Show in the Works With Ron Howard and Akiva Goldsman
A new adaptation takes shape
Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment will executive produce the project. Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Jeb Brody, along with Weed Pictures’ Greg Lessans and Rachel Wizenberg, will lead development with Howard and Goldsman.
Earlier film plans stalled
Spielberg optioned the novel before its publication and was once expected to direct a movie adaptation. Drew Goddard wrote a draft screenplay, and Anne Hathaway and Chris Hemsworth were attached to star at different points.
Spielberg postponed the project indefinitely in 2014. Michael Bay joined as director in 2018, but that version was not made.
No outlet attached yet
The series does not yet have a network or streaming service involved. Its development marks another attempt to bring the novel to the screen, this time as a television project. The book rose to prominence in the early 2010s, after Spielberg’s film plans drew attention to it before publication.
