Android 2026 Google System Update Adds Photo Backup via Quick Share for Windows

Quick Share backup for Windows

The update lets Android users automatically back up photos and videos to Windows using Quick Share. The feature is listed for both PC and phone. The monthly Google System Release Notes cover changes across Play services, the Play Store and Play system updates. They span Android phones and tablets, Wear OS, Google and Android TV, Auto and PC.

Family tools and password choices

Android Settings now includes a dedicated Family Hub for family management tools. Google Password Manager also lets users manually select which credentials to keep when imported passwords or passkeys conflict.

A new reminder appears if Play Protect remains turned off for a while. Game detail pages also gain at-a-glance highlights about gameplay style, review summaries and gaming community activity, helping users assess a game before installing it.

More system changes

The release adds developer features for Google and third-party apps handling location- and context-related processes. It also includes more quality logs for device connectivity across Auto, phones and TV. Updates to system management services are intended to improve battery life, connectivity, performance, privacy, security, stability and the ability to receive updates.

Checking updates and availability

On a Pixel, users can check system services through Settings by tapping their name, opening the All services tab, then choosing Privacy & security and System services. The notes also describe finding Android AICore in Settings’ All apps list and opening App info to see its version.

The release notes say listed features may not be widely available immediately. Some capabilities can take months to launch fully.
