Six killed by Arnab; thousands evacuated as India braces for second cyclone Murasu in a week

Murasu approaches Andhra Pradesh
The India Meteorological Department expects Murasu to cross the southern Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Narsapur, near Ongole. Its forecast window runs from 11:30pm Monday until 4am Tuesday, with wind speeds of 100–110km/h.
Residents of low-lying coastal areas are being evacuated as the state prepares for the storm. The region is still recovering from Cyclone Arnab, which hit the coast on Wednesday.
Officials prepare for damage
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials to make preparations. Estimates indicate that 6,000 to 8,000 electrical poles could be damaged, creating what he called a “severe threat to power supply”.
Warnings for coastal residents
Murasu is expected to be less intense than Arnab. The earlier cyclone killed six people and destroyed dozens of homes and crops.
