Best Buy, Target Set Legend of Zelda Switch 2 Console Restock Date; Plans Officially Confirmed

Restocks Set for November

Target says shipments of the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 are on the way. It expects to offer the console in stores on November 5, then online the following day.

Demand Exceeded Expectations

The special console, featuring a custom dock and Joy-Cons, sold out quickly. Its release accompanies the franchise’s 40th anniversary and the Ocarina of Time Remake, due November 5.

Bill van Zyll, Nintendo’s Vice President and General Manager for Latin America, said the company did not anticipate the console’s popularity. He said North America was among the markets where demand stood out.

Nintendo Has Not Announced Plans

Nintendo has not provided further details about restocking the console through its own stores. Other major U.S. retailers have also not announced plans, after some canceled orders because of limited supply.

Van Zyll said Nintendo was working to replenish the special hardware and software, while asking customers to be patient. The timing of further restocks beyond the plans from Best Buy and Target remains unclear.

Key points

  • Target expects store restocks on November 5 and online availability on November 6.
  • Best Buy plans to offer consoles at some locations during its November 5 midnight launch.
  • Best Buy has not said whether it will sell the console online.
  • Nintendo says it is working to replenish stock but has not announced its own restock date.
