Deadspin Field Level Media ranks Kentucky No. 24 among its Top 25

A revamped frontcourt

Kentucky added Milan Momcilovic, described as college basketball’s purest shooter, after his time at Iowa State. The Wildcats also brought in 7-foot power forward Ousmane N'Diaye, who has three years of professional experience, and kept 7-footer Malachi Moreno.

The additions may give third-year coach Mark Pope a stronger roster. In Kentucky’s final exhibition, the team beat UCF 90-76 in overtime, with Moreno recording 16 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and two blocks.

Momcilovic’s shooting stands out

Momcilovic led the nation last season with 136 3-pointers and a 48.8% 3-point rate. He made eight 3-pointers against Arizona, Cincinnati, West Virginia and Alcorn State. Freshman Mason Williams, son of new assistant Mo Williams, also showed promise in the exhibitions, averaging 14.0 points.

Diallo faces scrutiny

Zoom Diallo, an athletic point guard and 2024 McDonald’s All-American, joined Kentucky after two seasons at Washington. He is expected to direct the Wildcats’ offense. His exhibition numbers—6.0 points and 4.7 assists per game across three games—were described as modest. That performance leaves him under close scrutiny as the season approaches.
