Australia omit Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc from England white ball series

Pace trio left out
Australia will face England in white-ball cricket without Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc. All three were part of the Australian team that won the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Cummins and Hazlewood are not named for the five-match T20 series, which starts on 21 November. Starc, 36, has already retired from T20 cricket.
Different choices by format
Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Josh Inglis and Matt Renshaw are in the ODI squad but not the T20 group. They also played in the South Africa series.
Nathan Ellis is named only for T20s after a side strain during September’s ODI tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe. Jack Edwards, who made his debut on that trip, is included in both squads.
Jake Fraser-McGurk and Mitchell Owen return to the T20 squad after missing recent series. Tim David is selected only for T20s despite recently returning to 50-over domestic cricket.
Schedules ahead for Australia
Australia’s final T20 against England is on 2 December. A busy pre-Ashes Test schedule follows, with Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood expected to play frequently. A one-off Test against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground begins on 11 March, marking 150 years of the Ashes, before the Indian Premier League. The ODI World Cup in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe starts on 7 October.
Squad names announced
The ODI and T20 squads both include Mitchell Marsh as captain, along with Xavier Bartlett, Mahli Beardman, Jack Edwards, Spencer Johnson and Adam Zampa. The T20-only selections are Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Joel Davies, Nathan Ellis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sam Harper, Mitchell Owen and Lachlan Shaw.
