The 5 Biggest Riverdale Moments That Took the Teen Mystery Into Bizarre Territory

Cheryl Keeps Jason Close

Jason Blossom’s murder drove Riverdale’s first season. In Season 3, members of the Farm cult exhumed his body to torment Cheryl, but she got it back and kept it in the Blossom Mansion chapel.

During Season 4, Cheryl talked to Jason, groomed him and changed his clothes. She also cared for a doll she believed held the spirit of her absorbed triplet, Julian. The bizarre behavior reflected how deeply Jason’s death had affected her.

The Farm’s Rocket Escape

Seasons 3 and 4 piled on strange plots, including the Farm, a cult led by Edgar Evernever. The group drew people in with the promise of “ascension,” while its operation concealed a black-market organ-harvesting scheme.

In Season 4, Episode 3, Edgar tried to escape Betty and the FBI from a motel roof. Wearing a white leather jumpsuit styled like Evel Knievel, he attempted to use a homemade rocket, but Alice Cooper shot him before he could get away.

Tabitha’s Trips Through Time

In Season 6, Tabitha Tate gained the ability to travel through time whenever she nearly died. After a henchman working for Percival Pickens shot her, she moved through 1944, 1968 and 1999.

In 1968, she arrived the day before Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated and hoped to change what happened. Her guardian angel, Raphael, appearing as Toni Topaz, told her his death was a fixed point in time because of its importance to the universe.
