Steam’s Newest Free RPG Brings a Gorgeous Pixel Fantasy Adventure to Savoria
A culinary kingdom in crisis
The story unfolds in Savoria, a kingdom facing a strange threat. Dr. Mechborg and Mech Corp have spread Mechtosis, a curse behind the land’s culinary disasters. Wendy sets out to gather four magical stones and stop the chaos. Her journey takes her through five food-themed regions, including salty forests, seasoned deserts and frosty mountain peaks, where secrets are hidden.
Food fuels the adventure
The game pairs colorful pixel-art environments with a traditional 2D fantasy style. Wendy’s quest features items such as sacred spatulas and fresh beef, as well as enemies including Golden Archers, Hot Sludge Sundaes, mechanical fries and chicken.
Combat is turn-based, and players can time attacks to inflict extra damage. Wendy can also enlist a French Fry Archer, a Spicy Chickeneer and a Frosty Mage, whose different strengths add tactical choices to battles.
Free game, unclear food offer
The developers have confirmed that WendyQuest will be free to play, but it is not available yet and has no announced launch date. Its Steam page is live for players who want to follow the game or add it to their wishlists.
The Steam description says players can earn real food while playing. Neither 81monkeys nor Wendy’s has explained how the rewards can be earned or where the promotion will be offered.
