Four power-play minutes, four shots: Bruins fall to Hurricanes in matchup of NHL's best records

Boston Strikes Early
The Bruins opened the scoring 91 seconds into the game. After Boston won a faceoff on its first power play, Elias Lindholm set up Pavel Zacha for a tap-in at the far post.
Boston held its 1-0 lead until the final minute of the first period. Nikolaj Ehlers forced a turnover behind the Bruins’ net, then Jackson Blake carried the puck across the crease and scored to tie the game.
Carolina Controls The Middle
Carolina limited Boston to two shots in the second period but did not score. The Hurricanes also had 90 seconds of five-on-three play after the Bruins took three penalties in the frame.
Boston’s penalty kill kept the game tied through the extended disadvantage. The Bruins had another chance to take the lead midway through the third, when Matthew Poitras hit the post with a backhand attempt.
Hurricanes Take The Lead
After Poitras’ missed opportunity, William Carrier moved the puck up ice and passed to Andrei Svechnikov. Svechnikov found Sebastian Aho at the far post, where Aho scored to put Carolina ahead 2-1.
The Bruins received two late power plays after Jordan Martinook and Aho were called for minor penalties. Boston struggled to maintain possession in the attacking zone and managed four shots across the four minutes of power-play time.
