Jimmy Stewart WWII Biopic Officially Sets Early Release Date in Select Theaters

Early screenings begin November 1

Burns & Co. Entertainment and Fathom will present Jimmy in limited theaters across the United States on Sunday, November 1. The screenings precede the film’s nationwide release on November 6.

The distributors say the early showings reflect the positive response to the film and its message. They also describe them as a tribute to veterans, including Stewart, who served in World War II.

Stewart’s path from Hollywood to war

KJ Apa stars as Jimmy Stewart in director Aaron Burns’ account of the actor’s life. The film follows Stewart from his Hollywood career to service as a U.S. Army Air Corps combat pilot and commander, and later to his role as George Bailey.

Stewart put his acting career on hold to serve his country, according to the film’s story. Jimmy presents that period through themes of service, stardom and sacrifice.

Tickets offered through Vet Tix

Burns & Co. and Fathom previously announced a partnership with Vet Tix to provide free screening access to veterans, first responders and their families. More than $1 million in tickets have been distributed nationwide so far, with additional tickets set to become available early next month.

Fathom Entertainment CEO Jason Brenek said the company was pleased to offer the November 1 engagements before the nationwide opening. He described Stewart’s legacy as one of patriotism, service and sacrifice.
