Exclusive: Halle Berry social media post sparks heated court exchange; actress attorney claims witch hunt over request

Post sparks courtroom dispute

Marina Beck, Berry’s attorney, objected to the request. Beck called it a “witch hunt” and said she believed it had been made in open court in front of reporters to advance what she described as a false narrative.

Lawyers dispute the post’s effect

Baghdaserians said the media presence did not concern him and argued that the post was relevant to the case. He said it was “disturbing my client’s peace” and calm.

The message said that when children disrespect their mothers, the cause often relates to their relationship with their father. The post has since been deleted. After the judge’s ruling, the courtroom was cleared for closing arguments.

Custody case continues

Martinez is seeking sole custody of the couple’s 13-year-old son, Maceo, and a domestic violence restraining order against Berry. He has accused Berry of physically abusing their son during an alleged September 26 incident at her home, claiming she put her hands around the boy’s neck and choked him.

Both sides seek changes

Berry has accused Martinez of interfering with Maceo’s education and therapeutic care and of involving their son in the legal dispute. She is asking the court to dismiss the restraining-order request and restore their previous 50-50 physical custody arrangement.

Berry is also seeking sole legal authority over decisions about her son’s education and medical care. The hearing, which has lasted nearly two weeks, adjourned shortly before noon, and a decision is expected Thursday.
