MCU X-Men Reboot Star Christopher Abbott Addresses Whether He’ll Appear in Avengers: Doomsday

Abbott rules out an appearance
Rolling Stone published footage from an interview with Abbott on October 25. Asked whether viewers should expect a cameo in Avengers: Doomsday, he responded, “I don’t think so,” and said he was not in the film.
Abbott added that he did not know what was happening with the project and said he had to make the X-Men movie first. He also insisted he was not being coy about his answer.
His role in the X-Men film
Abbott was confirmed for the MCU’s X-Men cast at D23 in August 2026. He is set to play Charles “Professor X” Xavier, a role previously portrayed on screen by Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy.
The X-Men movie is currently scheduled for release in 2028. Avengers: Doomsday is among the Marvel releases expected before it.
Why speculation continues
Marvel actors have sometimes denied involvement in films before later appearing in them. The article points to Andrew Garfield’s repeated denials about Spider-Man: No Way Home as a prominent example.
There are also reasons to think the new X-Men cast may not feature in Doomsday: the movie already has a large, star-studded cast, and adding an entire mutant team could be seen as too much. Still, the story notes that other unannounced actors could appear, including former Marvel stars returning after years away.
