iPhone Duo supports Apple Pencil in 27.2, with new video-call tools

Pencil support arrives
iOS 27.2 enables Apple Pencil use on the iPhone Duo. Apple had previously said the device would gain Pencil support later this year. The foldable phone has a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen, with iOS 27 controls adapted for both. Netflix, Prime Video and Microsoft Outlook support the larger display area, while some other apps still need work.
More video call options
The update adds Edge Light, designed to illuminate a user’s face during video calls. Group FaceTime calls also gain dual capture, showing the selfie camera and rear cameras together.
Apple also added suggested actions from Siri AI in Messages and expanded Siri AI language support. The additional languages include French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
Changes across Apple apps
Apple is adding support for Google’s SynthID AI watermark in Photos and Image Playground, according to 9to5Mac. The Apple TV app on iPhone now includes user profiles. In Apple Podcasts, “Up Next” is being replaced by “New Episodes,” with a “Continue Playing” section below. The update also brings a new Apple Music logo.
Other system updates released
Alongside iOS 27.2, Apple released macOS 27.2 Golden Gate, watchOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2 and HomePod 27.2. The iPhone Duo’s new software arrives as Apple has acknowledged a display issue following reports of cracked screens.
