LAIKA’s Wildwood Officially Gets a Limited Edition SteelBook, With Preorders Now Open
A major return for LAIKA
Wildwood marks LAIKA Studios’ return to the screen, 15 years after development began. The epic fantasy adapts the novel by Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis. The film has not had a strong box-office start, but reviews have been enthusiastic. Rotten Tomatoes lists a 99% positive score from 124 reviews and a 97% audience score.
Praise for the film
Collider reviewer Aidan Kelley gave Wildwood a 9/10 and called it LAIKA’s “masterpiece,” ranking it above Coraline and Kubo and the Two Strings. Kelley praised the film’s visual sequences.
The screenplay was written by Chris Butler, and Travis Knight directed the film. Its hand-crafted production could offer material for behind-the-scenes features, though none have been confirmed.
Physical editions announced
Preorders are available through major retailers for both a standard edition and a limited edition SteelBook. An exact release date has not been announced. Retailers have not shared information about special features or the SteelBook cover. Shout! Factory is handling the home release.
