HBO’s Task Star Lilli Kay Officially Confirms Her Season 2 Exit

Kay confirms she is leaving

In an interview with ScreenRant’s Brandon Zachary, conducted for Stick season 2, Lilli Kay confirmed she is not part of Task’s second season. Kay portrayed Frankie Grasso, the sister of detective Anthony Grasso.

“It’s a whole new cast [in season 2], which is very exciting,” Kay said. She added that there are many new people in the series and that she will not be in the season.

Frankie’s story in the finale

Kay first appeared as Frankie in the Task season 1 finale, which aired October 19, 2025. Her brother Anthony works on Agent Tom Brandis’ FBI task force. In the finale, Anthony told Frankie that information about his connection to Lizzie Stover’s death would soon become public and that he planned to surrender. He was shot in an ambush before doing so, but survived.

A changing cast for season two

HBO renewed Task in late 2025, and filming for the new season is underway in Pennsylvania. Alongside Ruffalo, returning cast members include Martha Plimpton, Silvia Dionicio and Andrew Russel.

The new season also has Mahershala Ali, Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis, Aminah Nieves, Édgar Ramírez, Tim Blake Nelson, Jharrell Jerome, Brían F. O'Byrne, Bethlehem Million, Kevin Dunn, Alaíde, Stephanie Sigman, Regina Nava, Rocío Guzmán, Rose Rollins and Carol Santiago. Julianne Nicholson will reprise her Mare of Easttown character, Lori Ross.

Kay wishes the team well

Kay said she recently reunited with Task director Jeremiah Zagar on an upcoming project. She also praised creator Brad Ingelsby, Zagar and co-star Fabien Frankel, who plays Anthony Grasso.

“I wish them the best, and I’m excited to watch it,” Kay said of the series. Before Task, her credits included Chambers, Your Honor and Yellowstone; she is set to return as Christina “Zero” Duffy in Stick season 2 starting November 4.
