Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” Is Her Newest No. 1: Here Are 16 Songs That Topped the Chart

A long chart run

Since her first No. 1 album in 2008, Swift has repeatedly topped both the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Hot 100. Her latest chart-topper, “Patient Zero,” adds to that record.

The article places Swift behind Elvis, Mariah Carey and The Beatles on the all-time list of artists with the most No. 1 hits. It presents her Hot 100 chart-toppers in order of the dates they peaked.

Records on the Hot 100

A song from Swift’s fourth album, “Red,” rose from No. 72 to No. 1 in its second week of tracking and stayed there for two more weeks. Another track climbed to No. 1 in its third week, replacing “Shake It Off” and making Swift the first woman to replace herself at the chart’s summit.

A later release surged from No. 53 to No. 1 after its video premiered at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, breaking Vevo’s 24-hour viewing record. Another Swift video later set a new record, drawing 43.2 million views on its first day.

Albums and songs debut together

“Folklore” opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 while “Cardigan” debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100. Swift became the first artist to start atop both charts in the same week.

“Willow” also debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 as “Evermore” opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)” received promotion through a self-directed short film starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien, a performance on “Saturday Night Live” and speculation about its muse.

Later chart milestones

One song led the Hot 100 for eight weeks, exceeding the previous high set by “Blank Space.” Another, despite early popularity with fans, was not promoted as a single and debuted at No. 29.

After “The Cruelest Summer” EP was released with a live version and a remix by LP Giobbi, the song reached No. 1. That achievement marked Swift’s 10th chart-topper.
