Wyze moved the screen on its new smart scale to the handle so it’s easier to read at eye level

Screen moves to the handle

Wyze’s new Ultra BodyScan Plus updates the company’s smart scale with a screen on its retractable handle. The 4.3-inch customizable color display brings measurements closer to eye level.

The handle also has electrodes that help the scale provide body measurements for the arms, legs, and torso. Wyze introduced the original Ultra BodyScan nearly a year ago.

More than 50 metrics

The Plus model measures over 50 body composition metrics, compared with 13 on the previous version. Examples include weight, BMI, bone mass, body water percentage, muscle weight, visceral fat, protein, and basal metabolic rate.

Using bioelectrical impedance analysis, the scale can break down metrics across the body. The original Ultra BodyScan costs $119.98, while the Plus is priced at $149.

App syncing without fees

The scale can send data to Apple Health, Google Health, and Android’s Health Connect via Bluetooth through a nearby smartphone. It can also sync directly through the home’s Wi-Fi network.

Wyze says the Plus’s features and health-data syncing do not require monthly or annual fees. The scale is available starting today from Wyze’s online store in black or white.

Profiles and guest measurements

The scale can recognize and store measurements for up to eight registered users, and it allows an unlimited number of guests to take one-off readings. A separate mode can measure children, pets, or luggage while someone is holding them. That mode does not provide the advanced health-metric breakdown.
