Barbara Palvin doesn’t want praise for walking the Victoria’s Secret fashion show 6 weeks postpartum

Palvin’s view of the runway walk

Palvin appeared at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show in Los Angeles on October 18, six weeks after the birth of her daughter. She told USA Today backstage that she did not think her return to the runway was a major event.

“I’m just doing what every woman does in America,” Palvin told USA Today. She also said she was six weeks postpartum the following day.

Leave rules and national data

Under the Family and Medical Leave Act, eligible new mothers can receive up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave. Eligibility depends on length of employment, hours worked in the prior year and the size and location of the employer’s workforce.

Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis data released this year showed that mothers in the United States took an average of 7.2 weeks away from work to care for a new child. Palvin had described maternity leave as lasting six to eight weeks in the United States.

A new child and past runway work

Palvin married actor Dylan Sprouse in July 2023. Their first child, a daughter named Sylvie, was born on September 7.
