A First Glimpse Reveals How Hideo Kojima Officially Returns to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2

Kojima’s next screen appearance

Kojima is known for directing the Metal Gear games and for making unexpected appearances in other projects. His upcoming cameo in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has now been confirmed by the series.

The announcement came ahead of the Netflix show’s return. Kojima will reprise his Cyberpunk 2077 role as Hideyoshi Oshima, a Japanese braindance director.

A glimpse, but no episode details

The show shared an early look at Oshima, though the image offers little detail. It appears to show the character in the background. The series has not said which episode will feature Kojima. Viewers may need to look carefully to spot his cameo.

Other projects in progress

Kojima is also developing two games. Physint is an upcoming action-adventure stealth game starring Bill Skarsgård as its playable character, while OD is a horror game involving Jordan Peele. Neither game has a release date. Details about OD remain scarce; Kojima has said he wants to release it “without saying anything.”

More roles beyond games

Kojima has appeared in cameos and small roles across different projects, including Zootopia 2. Earlier this month, he said he would appear in a major live-action movie and an anime series.

The movie has not been identified. The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 announcement may clarify which anime appearance Kojima had in mind.
