England women manager Sarina Wiegman signs new year-long contract extension through 2029

Extension keeps Wiegman in charge
Wiegman has signed a two-year extension to her England contract. The agreement means she is set to remain in the role until 2029.
England’s recent tournament success
Wiegman led England to victory over Spain in the Euro 2025 final, securing the Lionesses’ second consecutive European Championship title. She had also guided the team to its first major trophy at Euro 2022, when England beat Germany 2-1 at Wembley.
Before taking the England job, Wiegman led the Netherlands to the Euro 2017 title and to the 2019 World Cup final. Reaching the 2025 Euros final made her the first manager, in the women’s or men’s game, to reach five major international finals in a row.
World Cup remains immediate priority
England beat Greece 8-1 on aggregate last week to reach round two of the World Cup play-offs. Ukraine will be their next opponent. Wiegman said her main concern was the World Cup and helping the squad realise its potential in the years ahead. Bullingham said she was the right person to lead the Lionesses into their next two tournaments.
