Community starts GoFundMe for 7-year-old Oregon school shooting survivor facing recovery

Saylor faces a long recovery

Saylor Graham, 7, was shot in the face during Thursday’s shooting at an elementary school in Oregon. She has undergone surgery and is recovering, while facing what supporters describe as a lengthy recovery.

The attack killed three children and a teacher. Saylor is the youngest known survivor of the shooting, and she is known locally through a youth program.

Fundraiser aims to ease costs

A family friend started a GoFundMe campaign to support Saylor’s family. The page says the money is intended to help with hospital bills, lodging, transportation and lost income while family members are away from work.

The fundraiser describes Saylor as a child with a strong will to thrive. It also says the trauma has brought medical expenses and uncertainty for her family.

Youth program shares support

Matt Sampson, executive director of Sparrow Clubs, told Central Oregon Daily News that Saylor joined the Bend High Lava Bear Sparrow program in 2025. He described her as joyful and courageous, and said she had made a lasting impression on students.

High school seniors who took part in a fundraising campaign for Saylor shared written reflections about helping her. One student said the experience reinforced their belief in hope and humanity, and their desire to help people in need.

Sampson said the group was praying for Saylor and her family. He also said they wanted the family to know they were valued and could count on support.
