Steam sets let developers show game achievements in separate progress groups

Achievements grouped into sets

Valve’s new feature lets developers divide achievements for a base game and its DLC into groups. Players still earn achievements through ordinary gameplay. When players review their achievements, Steam will display them in developer-made sets rather than one long list. The groups are intended to make completed and upcoming achievements easier to browse.

Progress and profile trophies

Each achievement set has a separate progress bar. Finishing a set also awards a “set complete” trophy, which appears on the player’s profile. Valve says the layout will help players see what they have accomplished and locate related achievements they might pursue next. The individual achievements remain tied to playing the game.

Seasonal options and page update

Developers can make seasonal achievement sets and archive them. Valve points to season-based games and limited-time holiday achievements as possible uses.

Key points

  • Developers can sort base-game and DLC achievements into separate sets.
  • Every set has its own progress bar and completion trophy.
  • Seasonal sets can be archived by developers.
