Zelenskyy says Russia ‘did not heed’ Trump’s call for energy ceasefire and gave ‘no early warning’ before strikes on Kyiv – Europe live

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine had stopped attacks on Russian oil refineries for two days following Donald Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire focused on energy targets.
He reported that a strike on a residential building in Kharkiv killed four people and injured 41. He also said five ballistic missiles hit civilian infrastructure in Kyiv.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine received no advance warning from partners about the Kyiv attack. He added that cooperation with the United States on intelligence was continuing, while the alert was delayed because Russia used a particular type of weapon.
He said Russian attacks had hit energy and critical infrastructure across 19 Ukrainian regions in the two-day period. Zelenskyy argued that Russia was not prepared for a ceasefire and called for stronger pressure on Moscow.
Ukraine remained open to reciprocal steps toward de-escalation, he said. Zelenskyy also urged continued support for Ukraine and readiness for ceasefire talks.
