Ukraine war live: Nato member blames Putin after two ships struck in Black Sea

Drones hit two merchant vessels in the Black Sea off Bulgaria on the morning described in the report. One ship sank, and rescue efforts began.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen denounced the strikes near the coast of Nato member Bulgaria and said those responsible should face accountability.

Asked about Russian attacks, US President Donald Trump declined to criticise Vladimir Putin, saying there had been violations by both sides.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine had refrained from targeting Russian oil refineries and energy infrastructure for two days. He accused Russia of ignoring Trump’s call for a truce.
