Ilhan Omar

Federal agents searched a Washington, D.C.-area residence belonging to Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar on Monday morning, according to the Justice Department and other reporting.
The DOJ said Homeland Security Investigations carried out a court-authorized warrant as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation. Officials have not described what the investigation concerns.
It was unclear whether Omar was at the residence during the search. Her office did not immediately respond to ABC News; the BBC reported that her office said she had done nothing wrong and called the search an effort to intimidate a political opponent.
The search took place 22 days before the midterm elections, in which Omar is seeking reelection, ABC News reported. The sources did not establish any connection between the investigation and the election.
