Are banks, the USPS and stock market open on Columbus Day? Here is what to know.

Columbus Day, also called Indigenous Peoples Day, is a federal holiday, though it is not observed uniformly across the country, Pew Research Center says.
The holiday has become less widely observed as some communities move away from honoring Christopher Columbus and instead recognize Indigenous peoples.
U.S. stock markets will operate as usual on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time.
JPMorgan Chase branches will open on Oct. 12. However, the bank will handle online transactions as if it were a holiday: customers cannot set transactions for that day, and recurring transactions were processed on the prior business day.
Key points
- Columbus Day is a federal holiday, but observance differs across the United States.
