Zelensky condemns 'vile' large-scale Russian attacks that killed 24

At least 24 people were killed and 50 injured in overnight Russian attacks across central and eastern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials. Seven of the injured were children.
In Pryluky, emergency crews were searching for people beneath the remains of an apartment building on Wednesday morning. Zelensky said strikes also damaged residential buildings in Dnipro and Kremenchuk, killing two people and injuring eight.
Ukraine’s national police shared images of what it described as an unexploded Russian Iskander missile in Kyiv. BBC Verify confirmed the images were genuine and said apparent fragments landed in open ground near apartment blocks.
Zelensky said Russia launched 70 missiles and called for more air-defence equipment from Ukraine’s allies, saying the country’s forces intercepted only some of them.
He also said Ukraine had hit four targets in Russia during the previous 24 hours, including two oil facilities and a training ground. Separately, Bulgaria halted its search for the crew of a ship reported to have sunk after a drone strike; their identities were not known.
