Apocalyptic scenes as france school protests escalate
Protests over school funding spread across France on Tuesday, with more than 250,000 people taking part nationwide, according to government figures cited by NPR.
Students blocked high schools while demonstrators gathered in cities including Marseille, Strasbourg and Lille. The movement began at a school in the Paris region in mid-September.
Police used tear gas in Paris and other locations to disperse crowds. A water cannon was also used against protesters in Rennes.
