Jos Buttler: England wicketkeeper ruled out of tri-series in Pakistan with injury

England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler has been ruled out of next month's one-day tri-series in Pakistan because of a hamstring problem. He picked up the injury during the match against Sri Lanka at Headingley, leaving the field on 67 before coming back to finish on 69 off 49 deliveries.
Head coach Brendon McCullum said it is "hard to judge" how long Buttler will be sidelined, according to the report. Jordan Cox will step in for the 50-over competition involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which starts on 20 October.
Cox gets the opportunity after a strong international summer. He made half-centuries in all three Tests batting at number three against Pakistan, then scored 76 while filling in for Buttler in the third one-day match against Sri Lanka at The Oval on Sunday.
England are due to confirm their touring parties on Monday, while updated central contracts are expected shortly afterwards. Deals for Ben Stokes and Mark Wood are finishing following their retirements from international cricket, and one-year agreements for Ollie Pope, Zak Crawley, Matthew Potts and Luke Wood are expiring.
The article also notes an unnamed player remains eligible despite a continuing Cricket Regulator inquiry after police took no further action, with white-ball captain Harry Brook saying he needs time away. Test Match Special will provide commentary on England's white-ball trips to Pakistan and Australia this autumn.
