Laval, Que., native tops Australia's Talia Gibson in straight sets for 6th career title
Canada's Leylah Fernandez captured her first title of the season with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Australia's Talia Gibson in the women's singles final at the Singapore Tennis Open on Sunday.
Fernandez had five aces and won 6 of 12 available break points. She made quick work of the second set, winning 81.8 per cent of her first serve points.

Fernandez, the world No. 31, came into the WTA 500 tournament seeded sixth and dispatched top seed Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals to advance.
Fernandez improved to 6-3 in final appearances and now has two WTA 500 titles, having previously won the D.C. Open in July 2025.
