Winners and Losers: Bijan Shines, but Falcons’ Defense Struggles in Loss to Bengals

Robinson leads Atlanta’s offense

Bijan Robinson delivered one of Atlanta’s strongest performances, finishing with 19 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 5.3 yards per carry and added six catches for 47 yards, giving him 147 yards from scrimmage.

Penix adds a rushing threat

Michael Penix Jr. ran three times for 50 yards, setting a career high for rushing yards in an NFL game. His longest run covered 23 yards, and he averaged 16.7 yards per attempt.

As a passer, Penix completed 18 of 26 attempts for 156 yards, one touchdown and one interception. His mobility gave Atlanta another option as the team struggled to move the ball consistently through the air.

London carries receiving load

Drake London led the Falcons with five catches for 68 yards on five targets. He did not score, but was the only Atlanta wide receiver with more than two receptions.

Penalties undermine Falcons

Atlanta committed 12 penalties for 88 yards, a season high. The infractions erased potentially significant plays and repeatedly left the Falcons facing difficult down-and-distance situations. Pre-snap penalties from the offensive line created obstacles before plays could develop. Those mistakes contributed to Atlanta’s difficulty keeping pace with Joe Burrow and Cincinnati’s explosive passing attack.
