Future of Heated Rivalry revealed ahead: wildly popular hockey romance may expand beyond its hotly anticipated second season

Reported plans extend beyond season two
The movie is described by Deadline’s insiders as a Christmas special or holiday-themed episode, with a theatrical release planned for next December. Crave told Page Six it had no projects to confirm.
A different pair may lead the film
Sources told Deadline that Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams’ characters, Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander, are not in the movie. Instead, the film is rumored to center on Scott Hunter and Christopher “Kip” Grady, played by François Arnaud and Robbie G.K. Rachel Reid, whose Game Changers books include Heated Rivalry, wrote a short story titled “Merry Christmas, Scott and Kip!” The story is no longer mentioned on her website, and fan communities say it was once available there to download.
Season lengths remain uncertain
The show’s first season had six episodes. Showrunner Jacob Tierny told Andy Cohen last month that the second season would also have six. Dylan Walsh, who plays Shane’s father, fueled speculation about back-to-back filming for the second and third seasons in a leaked Cameo video. He said the show was shooting 12 episodes in Canada, but fans’ suggestion that the third season might comprise six episodes remains unconfirmed.
