Killed by Facehuggers, Wolverine and Cyclops Suffered Their Darkest Deaths in Marvel History

Facehuggers overwhelm the X-Men

The crossover pits the X-Men against creatures from the Alien franchise. Cyclops and Wolverine die early in Alien vs. X-Men #2, after only a couple of facehuggers attack them.

The deaths underscore the danger posed by the creatures’ acid blood. The heroes are lost before they face a fully grown Xenomorph or a swarm of adults.

Cyclops is killed by his own blast

When a facehugger latches onto Scott Summers, he instinctively tries to remove it with his optic beams. Instead, the creature’s acid blood consumes his head, killing him. The scene ties his death to his powers and the facehugger’s biology. Cyclops is shown standing with his hands out as his body takes a moment to register that he is dead.

Wolverine’s healing reaches its limit

Beast reflects that he thought Logan could win because of his reputation as the best at what he does. Wolverine fights off advancing facehuggers, but their numbers eventually overwhelm him.

Beast says the acid was too much. The artwork shows Wolverine reduced to organs and adamantium, illustrating that his healing factor cannot withstand the attack.

More threats await the survivors

The surviving X-Men must regroup and fight back, with the facehuggers only the beginning of the danger. Adult Xenomorphs are expected to pose another threat. The synopsis for Alien vs. X-Men #3 says Sentinels will also join the conflict. The remaining mutants will have to face these dangers without Cyclops, their leader, or Wolverine, described as their best fighter.
